I am selling my rare 1972 Kawasaki Z1 (low matching VIN). This bike has been a part of my
personal collection for two years. I bought this bike from the original owner, and it comes with the original title
from when it was purchased in 1973. Clear, open title signed by the original owner.
This is an original 1972 Kawasaki Z1 that has not been modified. The engine runs and performs
properly as it should, no smoke, no leaks, starts right up, idles and revs up with no hesitation, sounds good and
very powerful. Recent professional tune-up including carburetor rebuild and synchronization, ignition timing set,
new points, condensers and spark plugs, oil change and new oil filter, new air filter, new o-rings in petcock,
valve clearance checked and within specs, timing chain adjustment, original master cylinder resealed and new brake
fluid. Professionally cleaned and detailed. Seat pan and rare black foam are original with a reproduction seat
cover. This bike has brand new exhaust pipes, new chain and sprockets and tires are newer with hardly any miles.
All of the lights and electrical functions properly.
The body set (tank, tail piece, and side covers) are original. The paint on these parts is
original. The paint on these parts is faded, especially the tail piece and top of tank. Personally I prefer not to
repaint these parts, only original once and I like the way it looks with some patina. There are no dents in the
tank and it is rust free and clean on the inside. The chrome on the fenders and rims is original and rust free.
This bike has all of its original date coded parts including the following parts unique to the
low VIN Z1 bikes. Correct and original as follows; speedo and tach, headlight brackets with the seam on the
backside, no rib carbs with code 1470, very early narrow handle bars, very early swingarm with no date code,
original black petcock, original cylinder with raised 903 cc, original cylinder head with vacuum ports, and
original engine cases with casting mark on left front corner.
Correct year-specific original parts with early VIN date codes are as follows:
Shocks: 29
Brake Rotor: 7K
Front Rim: 2I 303
Rear Rim: 2J 303
Brake Stay: 2 10
Controls: 2 9
Carbs 1470
Swingarm: No Code - too early in production
As you can see in the photos and video this is a very nice motorcycle that looks and operates
